How to Calm Relationship Triggers with Somatic Experiencing Pendulation
In this video, I’m sharing a gentle Somatic Experiencing tool you can use when you feel triggered in a relationship.
I recently had a moment where I was very activated, and this exact practice made everything more manageable. It helps you build capacity to be with those sensations instead of suppressing them or getting swept up in old patterns. We’re doing pendulation — moving between activation and support so your body can metabolize tension, soften the charge, and come back into regulation. Over time, this teaches your nervous system that it doesn’t have to stay stuck in activation.
This video is for you if you struggle with:
• relationship triggers
• relationship anxiety
• overthinking after conflict
• people-pleasing or shutdown patterns
• feeling overwhelmed by your emotions What you’ll learn:
• how to settle your body during a trigger
• how to work with sensation instead of fighting it
• how to find support and resourcing in your environment
• how to build capacity in small, nervous-system-friendly steps
Take this slowly, go at your own pace, and always listen to your body.
